I see some many articles out there these days encouraging investors to avoid the roller coaster of the stock market by going into funding with very high yields. However, when I look at those funds performance over time it's pretty clear that in the long run investors have traded gains for some peace of mind. If you have the financial means and intestinal fortitude to weather the roller coaster your gains can be massively better. Of course, it's not an either/or situation ... you can do both through asset allocation.
